Introduction

AI shopping agents like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude are increasingly being used to discover and recommend products. These agents communicate with Shopify stores through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) via Shopify’s Agentic Storefront.

The challenge: raw Shopify product data often lacks the context AI agents need to make confident recommendations. Without brand voice, detailed narratives, review data, and structured context, your products are invisible or under-represented in AI agent results.

What Bot It Does

Bot It is a Shopify app that optimizes your store for AI agents in two ways:

Free: Discovery Layer

  • UCP manifest at /.well-known/ucp so AI agents can find your store
  • agents.txt controlling which AI agents can access your store
  • llms.txt and commerce.txt providing store context to language models
  • Brand voice editor to define your brand summary, tone, and policies
  • Unlimited product and collection narratives adding context to your catalog

Pro: Enrichment Layer

  • MCP Enrichment Proxy that intercepts AI agent queries and injects your brand context, narratives, and review data into every response
  • Review integration with Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox, Stamped, and Okendo
  • Analytics dashboard showing which AI agents visit, what they query, and where your catalog has search gaps
  • WebMCP browser tools for browser-based AI agents
  • Knowledge Base sync pushing your narratives to Shopify metafields

How It Works

  1. An AI agent queries your store via MCP
  2. Bot It intercepts the request and injects your brand context
  3. Shopify returns product results
  4. Bot It enriches the response with narratives and review data
  5. The enriched response reaches the AI agent
  6. Every interaction is logged to your analytics dashboard

The entire pipeline runs in milliseconds with no impact on your storefront’s speed.
